The Neuro-Oncology department provides care and treatment for people with cancers of the nervous system or with neurologic complications from cancer and its therapies, such as neuropathic pain.

    A Multidisciplinary Team Approach

Using a coordinated, multidisciplinary team approach, the neurologists at Mount Sinai West work to ensure the best possible treatment outcomes for each patient battling various central nervous system tumors, including gliomas (glioblastomamultiforme, astrocytoma, brainstem glioma, ependymoma, oligodendroglioma), meningioma, vestibular schwannoma, central nervous system lymphoma, metastatic disease to the brain and spine, or primary spinal cord tumors.

    Individualized Treatment Plans

Mount Sinai West’s coordinated, individualized treatment plans help neurology patients understand their conditions, their options for dealing with them, and the long-term prognoses of their neurological diseases.

This comprehensive approach provides patients with hope for what usually are very difficult problems, and the service strives to make each patient’s experience as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
